Long-EZ N58WL - "Wind Lass"

Wayne Litherland,  Builder/Pilot

My Long-EZ was built per Rutan plans over a 2 1/2 year period in a 2 car garage in Del Rio, Texas.  Constructed almost entirely of styrofoam and fiberglass, shaped and glassed without molds. It is powered by a Lycoming O-235-L2C (118 HP) that came off of a Cessna 152.

First flight was in August 1985.  I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience of building and flying her for over 25 years now!

"Boat Stage" after just a few weeks of construction.

Wing "Strakes" contain Fuel Tanks and Baggage Space.

Initial paint was all white lacquer for easy touch up...

First Flight!  Del Rio, TX - August 1985, a thrill of a lifetime!

Final paint Imron polyurethane.

Parks in the "Grazing" position to keep from falling over backwards without someone in the front seat for CG.
